Just type in the studio into your thingy. It will come up. Binge it if you haven't been watching it already. It is appointment viewing at our household. It's set Rogen's show. It's with Seth, and Catherine o' Hara and Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders and Kathryn Hahn. And then it's got loads of cameos and Zoe Kravitz is hysterical in this. Yes, I said hysterical. The creative team behind this show is incredible. the costume designer, the cinematographer, Adam Newport Barra, the production designer, Julie Berghoff, the costume designer, Cameron Lennox and the makeup department head who we have today, Georgie Douglas and Vanessa Price, the hair department head are all creating such innovative ways to give us this satisfying, gorgeous show. There's oners beautiful suits, there's fun makeup.

>> Tiffany Bartok: There'S amazing creative hair.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Everything that you want in a show and it's hilarious. And if you're in the industry, it's kind of painful. It's a good pain. It's a good pain. I have to say, if you haven't gotten there yet, I can't wait till you do. All right, happy viewing and enjoy the episode. Hi, ladies.

>> Georgie Douglas: I.

>> Tiffany Bartok: That's my official like, let's commence.

Georgie says she misses Vanessa because she's on a job

>> Tiffany Bartok: Hi, ladies.

>> Georgie Douglas: Yeah, hi.

>> Tiffany Bartok: I am. I know. Yes. No, I, I'm so happy that the two of you are here because as I was telling Vanessa, Georgie, last time and I. You and I talked was for the dropout. We couldn't get Vanessa because she was a job and so we only talked about her and so now she is live and in person and the two.

>> Georgie Douglas: Yes, thank God.

>> Tiffany Bartok: I know.

>> Georgie Douglas: I'm so happy and I miss her because she's on a job and I'm on a job and it's not the same job. Oh, it's not the same.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Why don't people think about these things?

>> Georgie Douglas: I don't know.

>> Vanessa Price: They forgot. There's a reason. There's magic sometimes. It's just.

>> Tiffany Bartok: It's the.

>> Vanessa Price: It's the. The formula.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Exactly. Exactly.

Catherine Baron says she knew about "Platonic" long before production

The stars definitely aligned for the studio for, And I've been trying to thank you for all the back and forth. I've been trying to get you guys on here forever because the show was coming out when I was first, emailed, and I was like. I was at south by Southwest, and I was like, oh, Seth Rogen has a new thing. And then I was like, everybody's talking about it. And then it came out. And then I was like, oh, my God, this is the best. It is so good. So, such a good show. I think all my friends are watching. I, don't know who's not watching. It's the best. What? Did you guys know that you were onto something really good with this?

>> Vanessa Price: Well, I. I knew about this a while way prior to it, even.

>> Georgie Douglas: Okay.

>> Tiffany Bartok: How did it all come together?

>> Vanessa Price: Seth. So I've been working with Seth off and on for 10 years.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Oh, okay.

>> Vanessa Price: So I knew we were working on, Platonic Season one.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Okay.

>> Vanessa Price: And he started, like, talking about it, so I kind of knew it was happening. And I was like, this sounds amazing. And so I just kept kind of checking back in.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yeah.

>> Vanessa Price: What's going on with that? And because he originally, he was like, catherine O. Harris signed on. I was like, okay. And I was like, who else? You know? He's like, I. Baron. I was like, okay. And so then I just kept, like, knocking on the door like, I'm coming. Right? I get to come to the party. Right. I get to come to the party. And so, I knew. I didn't fully understand what it was. I knew the story. I knew that it was about this, you know, Hollywood studio. And I knew there was this cast of characters, but I didn't really know. Yeah, but I did know I wanted to be a part of it, whatever it was, because I love Seth, and we have, like, a shorthand that we, just kind of know. And his whole thing is just like, yeah, you're really good at your job and. And you're cool. You're nice to be around.

>> Tiffany Bartok: That's a good impression. Yeah.

>> Vanessa Price: Yeah, Right. It's a terrible impression. but, you know, and so it was really nice and trusting, you. know, but. But in terms of the look, I had no idea because it wasn't written in the script.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Right.

>> Vanessa Price: how big and the Scope of this.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Right.

>> Vanessa Price: That we were actually making stylized comedy.

>> Tiffany Bartok: You know, this is.

>> Vanessa Price: It doesn't normally happen. Like, this is something that happens for, like, drama series and film that you have something so stylized from the production design to the costumes, to the hair and makeup. And so it's really cool to have this. It's not a slapstick comedy, but there is a lot of that.

>> Georgie Douglas: And it is.

There is physical comedy and there's smart humor, but then to have all of these other layers

>> Vanessa Price: There is physical comedy and there's smart humor, but then to have all of these other layers on top of it, really awesome. So that was kind of unfolded.

>> Georgie Douglas: Yeah. And we kind of knew once. Once we saw, like, this set designer, and the costumes sent us a deck. Cameron, Lennox. And once we saw that and. And we both talked to each other, we were like, whoa, this is different. Like, I thought it was going to be guys in pro suits or whatever, but I didn't think that it was going to have this cool old Hollywood niche to it.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Right.

>> Georgie Douglas: Was very exciting for us because it is contemp. Set in contemporary, but it's, like, beautifully shot. The dp, Adam, and the camera operator, Mark.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Mark.

>> Georgie Douglas: I get to work with him right now on, this film that I'm on. And it's so nice to see those guys, but they're so such beasts. They're such animals. And it was such a perfect combination of everybody. And Seth and Evan, are such, like, great people. They really unlike, a lot of shows that we've worked on in the past, we've had to run our looks and our ideas past the creators got it. And it's not the funnest situation, but with these guys, they were like, full trust of everybody in their, you know, each department. So everyone got to bring their ideas and also collaborating with the characters, the actors, and what they. What the actors wanted for their character.

>> Vanessa Price: Yeah, the creatives actually got to be creative, which was awesome. And, you know, Seth and Evan, like I said, it was very trusting. So, you know, I did present to them, like, a couple boards on a couple of the characters, but for the most part, it was just kind of like, go. You know, so that was really cool. But it was. It was 100% collaborative. Georgie and I, you know, once I saw the costume decks, I was like, okay. So I. Then it was kind of like, I know the world of each of these. I know these people. So then it was just kind of like, you know, creating the mood boards. Like, for instance, with the Katherine Hahn character, Maya. I had a whole mood board.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yeah, of course. Yeah. That had to be Fun.

>> Vanessa Price: It was so fun. And, you know, every. Every, episode, she has a different, very strong look. And so that was obviously collaborated a lot with costumes, because Cami, she loves a hat. so a lot of times I was just like, no, we're getting rid of the hat because I'm doing this thing, you know? but it was great because I basically made hair into these beautiful, wonderful hats, if you will.

>> Tiffany Bartok: I love that.

>> Vanessa Price: To complement the costumes and to keep.

>> Georgie Douglas: Cami from putting a hat on it, you're like, I'm gonna have to make a hair hat.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yes. The bump. The bump in the last episode that I saw, which is what I used to rock.

>> Vanessa Price: I call that, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

>> Tiffany Bartok: She just needs some shaved sides. Yeah. Not too much, you know, and.

>> Vanessa Price: But with. With Han, for instance, you know, with. You know, I had my lookbook of. Of looks that I wanted to do, and we had the costumes, and then it was just kind of like, well, this is what I was thinking. And then sometimes you'd be like, maybe this one instead for this one.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Okay.

>> Vanessa Price: It was kind of like that. And my team is so wonderful. They were able to add and subtract, where needed. And, you know, obviously, I couldn't do everyone as much as I wanted to.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yeah. Yeah.

>> Vanessa Price: But, they did such an amazing job, like, putting my imagination and my. My, my ideas onto. Onto these wonderful characters. But, you know, everything kind of just worked together, and he just.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Oh, such magic.

>> Georgie Douglas: Yeah.

A lot of Han's looks are inspired by Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

And.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Oh, tell me, Georgie.

>> Georgie Douglas: No, no, I was gonna say I. I know, Han from socially outside. So my meeting with her was, like, in the hallway by the stairs after the production meeting. And I was just. It was so quick and easy because I was like, okay, I thought we saw the costumes. This is going to be fun. The hair is going to be over the top. Let's just have you be this, you know, character that obsessively is looking at all the, you know, trending. Yeah. Makeup trends, and go with that. And get your nails did every day, every week, every whatever. Every episode. and the big brow and just constantly, like, a little too much makeup, but always, like, pretty. Yeah. Like, this is the one thing that has to kind of stay a little consistent. We just did, like. I don't know. She had fun with it. And then Gillian Whitlock, I. You know, she took over and turned her into the beauty that she is.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Got it. So you designed it, and then Jillian Whitlock executed it, or.

>> Georgie Douglas: Yeah, but I also gave Jillian. You know, it's like, you guys get to a place because Jillian's such a great artist and Catherine, you know, went in trusting, so it was nice.

>> Vanessa Price: Got it, got it, got it. They really did. It was such a collaborative effort. They were constantly. Because her looks were so big, that they were double teaming a lot. So my triple.

>> Georgie Douglas: We also had nails.

>> Vanessa Price: That's right.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yeah, yeah, yeah. You have nails on set on. So she would get the man custom.

>> Georgie Douglas: Made because she didn't want to wear them at home. She's like, I don't know how to deal with nails that long.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yeah.

>> Georgie Douglas: You know, And. And Lauren, who did her hair?

>> Vanessa Price: That's Vanessa Price, department head of hair, and Georgie Douglas, department head of makeup. And you want to know who's responsible for all of mother Han's hair looks? It's this babe, Lauren. Lauren McKeever.

>> Georgie Douglas: She's got, like the big long, nail extension. So she literally had to show her how to, like, unbutton those Gucci pants or whatever she was wearing. She's always. Remember the boot pants?

>> Vanessa Price: Yeah.

>> Georgie Douglas: I don't think we've seen those yet, have we?

>> Tiffany Bartok: I don't think we're on Kool Aid right now. We're on the Kool Aid 7. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

>> Vanessa Price: yeah, it was really funny. You know, it's funny though too, because a lot of these looks, these are baseball in. These aren't unhinged by any means. These are based in reality. They're very grounded. These are people we know. Like, these are, for me, a lot of the inspiration for that character specifically were Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

>> Georgie Douglas: Yep.

>> Vanessa Price: Yeah. This was. This was, in my head,

>> Georgie Douglas: Going to a brunch at someone's house.

>> Vanessa Price: Yeah. Sometimes. Sometimes I was like, what would Erika Jane do in this moment? There's a lot. There's a lot of.

>> Tiffany Bartok: I see the Dory. Yes. I see Dory.

>> Georgie Douglas: The over label, like wearing all the Chanel everything. All the Chanel.

>> Vanessa Price: It's so fun. I mean, that's the thing. It's like we didn't, you know. Yes, we made these characters up and yes, we did this. But these are inspired by real people. Every single one of them is inspired by a real person. Yeah.

>> Georgie Douglas: You know, so like Catherine o' Hara's character.

>> Vanessa Price: Yeah. Catherine o' Hara is not. It was inspired by. Not based on. Inspired by Amy Pascal.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yes, of course. Yes. Yes. I love the confirmation. Yes.

>> Vanessa Price: We didn't.

The first time we meet Patty, she's unhinged

You know, the thing is too, is we didn't want to make a caricature. Right, Right, Pascal. Or out of this character you know, but I think when the first time we meet Patty, she's unhinged.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yeah.

>> Vanessa Price: And, you know, it was. It was her in her natural habitat being vulnerable. And, that was really fun to play with. And it was just such a fun introduction to this entrance of this wonderful, wonderful human and performer.

Evan: For me, it was the production design. Yeah. So, so way back when we first started talking

>> Tiffany Bartok: I mean, what the. So, so way back when we first started talking, we were talking about the deck and I wanted to know what was in the deck that made you guys go like, okay, I got it. Like, what. What did you see was that. That's the production design. The costume design is there.

>> Vanessa Price: for me, it was the production design. It started there.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yeah.

>> Vanessa Price: Then I got to see this world. And what Julie, Bergoff did with this production design is out of this world.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Insane.

>> Vanessa Price: And she built that entire office on a stage. It's two stories. We had a two story giant office with a fountain in the middle.

>> Georgie Douglas: It was the most beautiful set on stage I've ever seen in my life.

>> Tiffany Bartok: That's amazing.

>> Georgie Douglas: You know, Frank Lloyd Wright modeled. Yeah, it was pretty amazing.

>> Vanessa Price: It was really cool. I. To this day I'm just so taken aback. But that, yeah, was.

>> Georgie Douglas: But our first day of shooting though too was like cam, the way the camera was operating, how we were. Seth and Matt and Quinn are on in the. Was I invited to Charlie's party?

>> Tiffany Bartok: Right.

>> Georgie Douglas: so she. They pull in and then he's running up. Is that right? And then he's running up to go take a meeting with his boss. But, it. The way everything was operated and how everybody looked so beautiful once it came together. I remember Vanessa and I were just like, this is like going to be the best show.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yeah.

>> Georgie Douglas: It's because. Because of the level of. Of style, you know, being so stylized and the level of comedy and the level of like everybody, like a lot of people thought maybe, I'm going to say Apple people thought that it was going to be such a small demographic of. This is only going to relate to people who work.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Oh, like inside baseball. Yeah.

>> Georgie Douglas: Yeah. But once we saw how it was all being shot.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yeah.

>> Georgie Douglas: And what it looked like and how it was stylized and these awesome people and the way that they shot it. They had to. It was like a play, you know, everybody had to land on their marks and everybody was just pumped up about all of it. So it was like, yep, this is magic. This is really good.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yes. I can feel the energy. For sure.

>> Vanessa Price: We, we originally, when we first started, the first day, it wasn't intended. They didn't intend for the entire show to be oners and every. really, that was an act that. That just happened organically, and it just. And then on day one, scene one, and then it just went. So, Which was awesome. And to be honest, it would change it so different if we had all this coverage. It just wouldn't have been as special as it was. There was the idea, because they Originally. There was the episode, the winner.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yeah.

>> Vanessa Price: And so they knew there were going to be a lot of long shots, a lot of walk and talks, but they didn't really know the magic of the oner until they just were like, let's try it. And then it just happened.

>> Tiffany Bartok: So, the oner wasn't going to be a one or even.

>> Vanessa Price: No, the one.

>> Tiffany Bartok: No, it was one or I was gonna do the one or more came. Got it.

>> Georgie Douglas: But I think, like, getting all the five actors in the. In their first scene together, that's when they realized, too, that, like, this is amazing. Everybody's on point. When you're off camera, you're still on camera because you're. You. You're going to be on camera.

>> Vanessa Price: Yeah.

>> Georgie Douglas: You can't mess up your lines, you can't mess up the makeup, we can't mess up the hair. Everything has to be on point because this is such a machine. And not one thing can be out of place.

>> Vanessa Price: No, absolutely not. And that's a testament to. Every single crew member was handpicked by Seth and Evan, and every single crew member was top of their game. This wasn't for anyone weak at heart, you know, this was people who knew what they were doing. There was a reason they were there, and they. They earned it, they owned it, and they presented it, and. But that's the thing, too, is that then Evan gave us the confidence to do what we do.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Right.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Right.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Did they, Do you get a rehearse?

>> Vanessa Price: How.

>> Tiffany Bartok: How does the week work? Like, do you get two rehearsals and then you shoot one?

The oner episode actually shot over a course of four days

>> Vanessa Price: We would rehearse. They. They would rehearse hours. Hours. So they would come. They would usually go for a little rehearsal, and then we would finish our work, but then we would. They would rehearse for hours before we even rolled on a take. Sometimes. Sometimes. Because it was choreography.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yeah. Yeah.

>> Vanessa Price: You know, our. Our camera operators were like actors in the scene, so they were studying the scripts, and they knew their marks, their points. And so, yeah, they had to figure out the choreography every day. And sometimes it wouldn't work. And then when it clicked, it clicked. And. And then we would just go and then. But it was funny because we would do. Sometimes. I don't know what the most amount of takes was, but we would do, like 20 takes. Some days.

>> Georgie Douglas: Of one scene. Okay, got it. Of the whole scene.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Right, right.

>> Georgie Douglas: Rather than all the coverage.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Right, right, right, right, right, right. And so how did the oner episode work like that?

>> Vanessa Price: Well, the oner episode actually didn't end up being a oner because we shot that over a course of four days.

>> Georgie Douglas: Got it. except the last day was a true.

>> Vanessa Price: Was a true oner. Yeah.

>> Georgie Douglas: It was a true meta Wonder where we're, like, fighting the light and. Oh, man.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Are you serious? That's cool.

>> Georgie Douglas: Yeah, it's a one. Or like, where she walks in, she goes through the whole thing, you know, hit the. The car at the end when he leaves. Like, that was a true. All of that was a true oner.

>> Tiffany Bartok: I love it. The second he parked that car, I was like, oh, he smelled it.

>> Vanessa Price: Everybody comes to me about that episode. They're like, I'm so anxious.

>> Tiffany Bartok: I had to watch it twice, because the first time I was like, you know, my. And my husband was just like, I can't, I can't. He was standing up watching it.

>> Georgie Douglas: That's great. I love that.

>> Tiffany Bartok: He was just like, I can. Oh, my God.

Georgie: The madcap insanity must be exhausting on set

you know, Seth, I know, loves. Loves the Muppet show, you know? And I know, like. But I can't help but feel Muppet show vibes. I. I always, like. I'm telling people, when I describe, I'm like, It is like all that he's been training for with his Muppet show viewing is, like, on this screen. You know what I mean? And he's Kermit. He's. He's either Gopher or Kermit, you know? Yeah, Kermit. Okay. Yeah.

>> Georgie Douglas: My husband says Kermit thought about this metaphor. This is amazing.

>> Tiffany Bartok: That's gonna be all you can see, Georgie. You're gonna be like, he's Kermit.

>> Vanessa Price: I think o' Hara is Piggy. I think, Han would be, Gonzo. I think Ike would be Fozzie and.

>> Georgie Douglas: Well, whose animal?

>> Vanessa Price: Cranston.

>> Tiffany Bartok: okay.

>> Georgie Douglas: Makeup on me and take a hike.

>> Vanessa Price: All right, let's go, let's go.

>> Georgie Douglas: Tired of waiting for you.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Where does that come.

>> Georgie Douglas: From?

>> Tiffany Bartok: Makeup professional.

>> Georgie Douglas: You're so gentle.

>> Vanessa Price: And then.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yeah.

>> Vanessa Price: and then Chase. Oh, chase. Chase might be like, Rizzo. I love it.

>> Tiffany Bartok: I Ratzo Rizzo. Yeah, I love it.

>> Vanessa Price: I love it.

>> Tiffany Bartok: The, The. The whole, like, The madcap insanity must be exhausting. So, like, are you guys. Are you on adrenaline the whole time? Does anybody ever get tired? Are you ever exhausted? Or are you exhausted?

>> Georgie Douglas: Exhausted. Exhausted. And, like, I feel like we truly need, like, a coordinator for our department, since costumes normally has a coordinator. We don't. So we were constantly prepping for the next show while we were, you know, designing or making or testing the zombie makeup, and hair and working on set.

>> Vanessa Price: Yeah, working on set. Doing our main cast characters, but then also preparing for the film within the film.

>> Georgie Douglas: Yes.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Jackass. I mean, not Jackass. What, what's the name of. Of Johnny Knoxville's movie?

>> Vanessa Price: The Apocalypse.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yeah, Apocalypse.

>> Georgie Douglas: So. Yeah.

>> Vanessa Price: Yeah.

>> Georgie Douglas: Or.

>> Vanessa Price: And. But even, like, the Greta Lee stuff with the 60s and then the Anthony Mackie stuff with the 70s, and then.

>> Georgie Douglas: But, I mean, we.

>> Vanessa Price: That.

>> Georgie Douglas: I'm still blown away by our Greta Lee, Juan Car.

Everything on Love Nod happens organically, which is amazing

Why in the Mood for Love Nod? Because nobody talked about that. Nobody said, let's do a nod to that.

>> Tiffany Bartok: But we came up with.

>> Georgie Douglas: Appeared.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yeah.

>> Georgie Douglas: Like, literally, Cammie and I, we didn't talk about what she was gonna wear. Vanessa and I both talked about, like, the hair and the look. And, I talked to Cami a.

>> Vanessa Price: Little bit about it. Like, I knew I. I. Because I had to figure out the silhouette based on, like, what was happening here. So, But it was. But it wasn't intentional. It was just so organic. That's the thing about the show. Everything happens so organically, and it is something you can. Everyone had in this group has such a love for film, television, and just, like, the art and the craft of.

>> Tiffany Bartok: What we all do, that's the key. It's like, you know, like, with the Office, the. That Michael Scott loves, so hard. And it's like, that's. That's the. If. If. If Seth's character didn't love moviemaking as much as he does, we wouldn't be watching the same thing.

>> Georgie Douglas: Like, you wouldn't be rooting for him at all.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yes.

>> Georgie Douglas: Be rooting for all his bad decisions because, you know, his intentions in the end are out of love and.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yes.

>> Georgie Douglas: Integrity. Yes. But he breaks all the rules to get there.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yeah. Yeah.

>> Vanessa Price: And the love and integrity, which are so weirdly skewed, you know, the whole. The, episode with the oncologist. You know, the thing is, like, we're not curing cancer, but we are.

>> Tiffany Bartok: You know, that was amazing. I mean, how many times have you been in that conversation? Like, always. It's so good. I was like, this is amazing.

>> Georgie Douglas: I know that there's somebody Arguing the other. Our argument, which is like, no, none of us. We always are on the we're not curing cancer side. We're always on the oncologist side. What are you talking about? But his. That's when you really fall in love with that character. He's like, but. But I am saving lives, and I'm gonna double down on this conversation.

>> Vanessa Price: Yeah, that double down was so good.

>> Tiffany Bartok: It really was. And I, like, I totally got it. I was like, you guys need to break up right now. Please don't go home with her. Like, this is not. No. No.

>> Vanessa Price: Way.

>> Tiffany Bartok: she's not gonna get it ever. And then the friends. Oh, my God. I know. Like, it was so. So such a good representation of, like, all the inside baseball, like, times that we have to. And it really translates to, like, you know, past our industry as well. Like, you know, it's. It's, really a good crossover show, I think. You know, I agree.

Is there a season two coming? Do we know

>> Vanessa Price: I agree. I think it's. It's, It's just so smart. It's so smart.

>> Tiffany Bartok: So smart, so stylish, so amazing. Where is it going? Do you. Can you tell us anything? I mean, is there a season two coming? Do we know? Yeah. Okay. I like that body language.

>> Georgie Douglas: Language. I'm trying to give you a poker face.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Oh, nice.

>> Vanessa Price: It would be stupid not to.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Yeah. Yeah.

>> Georgie Douglas: It would be kind of weird if. If Apple was like, hm.

>> Vanessa Price: Yeah.

>> Georgie Douglas: I mean, it's a hit. I don't know.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Huge hit.

>> Vanessa Price: Yeah. Everyone loves it.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Everyone loves it. I've never talked to anybody who is like, yeah, it really needs a little more. No, it's perfect the way it is. Oh, my God. Well, thank you so much, you guys, for talking.

Tell me about Seth's finger episode and how that all worked out

Wait, I want to ask about the finger before we go, before I lose you. Tell me about. I can't even think of it without laughing to. Tell me about his finger. His finger episode and how that all worked out.

>> Georgie Douglas: it was in the script, and it was easy. I had my. Our, great friend Rallis Khan, who was, helping on the show anyway with the zombie and all that. And I was like, oh, there's a finger in the episode. Can you. Should I hire someone else to do the cast and this and that. And he's like, I do it all. I have a lab. So we just tested it out. We talked about it, like, what? Why would the finger be so long? He's like, because it's pulled out of the socket.

>> Tiffany Bartok: I was wondering the same thing. Is that true? Yeah.

>> Georgie Douglas: So he showed us a bunch of. He Showed us a bunch of photos. I showed it to Seth. He's like, cool.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Done.

>> Georgie Douglas: Done.

>> Tiffany Bartok: yeah.

>> Georgie Douglas: And then we just kind of did. He did a prototype and tried it on. He's like, cool.

>> Tiffany Bartok: I think I saw a video on one of the team's, IG about the day in the life of the finger. And like, I was.

>> Georgie Douglas: Oh, Cassie. Cassie Lyons. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

>> Tiffany Bartok: It was very funny. You guys are having way too much fun on set, I have to say.

>> Vanessa Price: It is.

>> Georgie Douglas: We have a lot of fun.

>> Vanessa Price: Yeah, we do. We do. I couldn't imagine doing it with anyone else, to be honest. It's. We just work so well together. It's, you know, it's. It's a hard show. So I think we really held each other up.

The New Girl writers gave Bryan Cranston a mustache for the finale

>> Georgie Douglas: don't you want to know about Brian Cranston really quick?

>> Tiffany Bartok: Of course.

>> Georgie Douglas: Oh, well, first, I don't want to spill too much tea, but the end of the episode is, my. What were. What we are nominated? No, what we are trying to nominate ourselves for. We have to nominate ourselves. Like, please.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Submission. Right.

>> Georgie Douglas: but, when we met him, I gave each one of us, some mustaches. like the real ones that we use, like the nice mustaches, John Blake mustaches. And we all had him at our stations. And then I was like, you guys, when Brian comes in, we should greet him with a mustache because we heard he had a mustache. He was growing it for this character. So he walks into the trailer and.

>> Vanessa Price: We'Re all sitting in our chairs.

>> Georgie Douglas: We're all in our station in our chairs, facing the opposite way of him walking in. And when he walks in, he goes, what? Wait, what?

>> Vanessa Price: And then we all turn around.

>> Georgie Douglas: We're like, we've been waiting for you. Or we're very excited to see you. I can't remember what we said, but he died. He's like, I can tell. This is a good trailer.

>> Tiffany Bartok: I love it. You all, How many people had mustaches?

>> Vanessa Price: Well, it was myself, Mikey, Alex for Georgie, Jillian.

>> Vanessa Price: Yeah, it was the four of us.

>> Georgie Douglas: Yeah.

>> Tiffany Bartok: That great.

>> Vanessa Price: It was cute. But he came in with. With. He was inspired.

>> Georgie Douglas: Yes.

>> Vanessa Price: I love Cranston so much. He's such an amazing human being. And, he had been listening to the audiobook for, Robert Evans.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Oh, sure.

>> Vanessa Price: and so he kid stays in the picture. What if we go with this? And so we kind of picked it apart a little bit. Like, okay, Georgie said, you know, she's going to. What she was going to do. And I was like, all Right. I'm going to darken your hair. We're going to leave a little streak in it. We're going to blow you out. We went. We transformed him so much that one day we were riding in the van to set, and he was like, you guys, my phone doesn't even recognize me.

>> Tiffany Bartok: M. Is that true?

>> Georgie Douglas: Yeah.

>> Tiffany Bartok: I love it. Yeah, I love that because it's. You know, you guys really dance with. You know, it could go full caricature, and you just don't go there. It's like, all these people are real. And you guys did such a good job.

>> Georgie Douglas: Thank you. And there's a fun surprise at the finale. So that's why I was saying I didn't want to spill too much tea. But we all cry as we were working together. You know, the head of Disney, every once in a while, he was on the Fox lot. I was shooting New Girl, and sometimes they would call me off set to go do his makeup, and he would just pick whatever show was filming of, like, I need to be groomed for this meeting, you know?

>> Tiffany Bartok: Okay.

>> Georgie Douglas: It was very creepy. Who is this? I don't even remember his name. Anyway, I thought of that, and I told, you know, Cranston about that. I was like, I think you have your hair maybe dyed, but maybe sometimes you don't. Maybe sometimes you go home. You know, maybe we're just using this makeup. Maybe your makeup artist on the lot. You start to, you know, fight your aging process. But you're willing to, like, paint yourself.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Sure. Like, Like we do. Yes.

>> Georgie Douglas: Yeah. His beard and everything.

>> Tiffany Bartok: You use that. That moment.

>> Georgie Douglas: We. We take advantage of that moment with the finale.

>> Tiffany Bartok: I, see. You see how that.

>> Georgie Douglas: That's all I'm saying.

>> Tiffany Bartok: That creep paid off for you. That.

>> Georgie Douglas: Right?

>> Tiffany Bartok: I know that creep was inspiration for the, the amazingness that.

Georgie: Seth and Evan use their own real experiences on the show

>> Georgie Douglas: I want to name names, but I don't really.

>> Vanessa Price: We can't make this stuff up, though. That's the thing. And that. And, you know, that's the beauty about it as well, is like, Seth and Evan use their own real, you know, experiences.

>> Georgie Douglas: Yeah.

>> Vanessa Price: This is all based in reality, which is. I think some people think that this fantastical Hollywood show, it's like. No, this is real stuff.

>> Tiffany Bartok: The Kool Aid episode, like, you would think that that was made up. That's every damn day. I mean, my God, this is our life. People. Listen. Listen to us. We're curing cancer. No, we're not.

>> Vanessa Price: Okay.

>> Tiffany Bartok: Wait. Do you want to Google his name? I feel you. I love how you said, I want to name names?

>> Georgie Douglas: Name them. no, I can't. I can't. It'll take too long. I just woke up, you guys.

>> Tiffany Bartok: I know, I know. Me too. And, guys. And I'm on East coast time.

>> Vanessa Price: I meet you and I'm on East coast time.

>> Georgie Douglas: Wait, you guys got to sleep in, though.

>> Tiffany Bartok: No, I. I'm in, I'm in Rhode Island. This is RISD back here. This is,

>> Georgie Douglas: I like your books. I know there's one person who's been canceled back then in this.

>> Tiffany Bartok: This is the Graduate Hotel, at risd. But, you guys, thank you so much for talking to me.
